Laura Secord and her singing cow

This is my entry for 24th contest. I know this is a very last minute entry but I heard about the contest last minute. So the legend of Laura Secord for the Heros & Sidekicks protion of the contest.

Laura Second the movie
Movie Synopsis: In the middle of the war 1812 a young married Canadian woman whose home was taken by the Americans over hears one of the American armies plans to take over Canada. With only her cow and her wits to assist her, She takes a long a dangerous journey in hopes of finding the Canadian General to tell of the American’s plans. If fails her country could be doomed.
Characters

Laura Secord- A brave and feisty to fault woman who land has been taken by American soldiers. She may have only her to wits and stubborn cow with her but she brave and loyal to her husband, who has been injured in the war and her country.

Cary the cow.- A finicky and stubborn but loyal cow that Laura is pretending to go market to sell. Although she and Laura don’t always see eye to eye they do care for each other. She also has quite the sinning voice.

Creative processes/ A Heroic artwork’s Humble beginnings

The characters: Ever since learning about Laura Secord in my High school history classes. I have always had great admiration and respect for her and thought she would make a great film heroine. When a found out about the part where allegedly brought her cow with combined with the finding out there was a musical of her story where the cow sings, I could not stop thinking what a great Disney film that would be when I first heard of the contest less than a week prior to the original due date. I in almost instant this is the idea I wanted use.


The Picture: I drew the line art for Laura and Cary the cow in pencil. It took me quite awhile and references to get the look for Laura’s face right since I wanted to look both like she could be Disney character while still looking somewhat like Laura Secord. Then I coloured the line art in pencil crayon and added the green grass. Then I scanned the coloured picture. I erased the plain white area (twice do my forgetting to save my progress) form picture and then added a layer behind my picture. This is where I used a paint.net render effect called Cloud to create the blue sky. Then I added another layer on top of the picture using the text style Cooperate Gothic bold. Then added a Disney logo in the corner for a look anthencity
